CBSA employees will begin job action on June 7 if no agreement is reached

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Customs and Immigration Union announced that Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) employees will begin job action across the country starting June 7 at 4 p.m. ET if an agreement is not reached with CBSA and the Treasury Board this week.

In a news release following the unions' announcement the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat said: "Although the Border Services Group will be in a legal strike position as of June 6, 90% of front-line Border Services Officers occupy essential services positions and must continue to provide uninterrupted border services to protect the safety and security of the public."

However, once in a a legal strike position, the union will likely begin demonstrations and "work to rule" actions. This would result in clearance disruptions and delays at at Canadian airports, land borders, commercial shipping ports, postal facilities and headquarters locations.
