As of December 20, the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) has tentatively agreed to a 62% wage increase for members of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) over the next six years. However, this agreement remains contingent upon resolving all outstanding issues, including ongoing disagreements over port automation.
Both parties are scheduled to return to the bargaining table on January 7, with negotiations continuing until the January 15 deadline for finalizing a new contract.
East and Gulf Coast port operators, along with union dockworkers, face significant pressure to reach an agreement before the current contract extension expires. If they are unable to reach a deal, there is a risk of disruption at East and Gulf Coast ports.
We will continue to monitor these developments closely and provide updates as new information becomes available.
