Specific information and reporting is required when importing the following goods:

Polyphase induction electric motors
Dry-type transformers
Exit signs
Equipment utilizing polyphase induction electric motors or dry-type transformers such as pumps, air compressors, fans, spraying machinery, hoists, winches, cranes and fork lifts
The following information must be provided on the customs invoice when importing goods subject to Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations:
Name and brand of the product
Model number of the product or in the case of motors, the Unique Motor Identifier
Address of the dealer

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) procedures for commercial imports of prescribed products involve cross-checking data received from customs release documents with the Energy Efficiency Reports that dealers must submit. This ensures that NRCan can verify the compliance of imports clearing customs.
